End of October Happenings

This is a reminder that you should set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night, October 31, before you go to bed. It is when we change from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time and as the saying goes, “Spring Forward and Fall Back”, so we get one hour of extra sleep Saturday night.

Also, I would like to let you know that beginning on Monday, November 2, our annual Book Fair opens in the foyer of the auditorium. Your child will have an opportunity to purchase books and the profit from the sale helps stock our libraries here at the main campus as well as at the annex.

Our final football game of the season is this Friday night, October 30. We play Marbury here at home and it is also the night that we recognize our seniors who participate in football, cheerleading and the band. Kick-off is set at 7:00 PM with the senior night activities beginning around 6:30. I hope to see you there.

Emergency Calling System

This entry is a follow up to the original announcement about our emergency calling system. I have now placed two school wide calls out to the parents using the automated calling: One announcing progress reports and one announcing the fall break for our students and report card day for the parents. Both announcements went out on a Sunday night between 7:15 and 7:45 PM. I am now asking that you let me know what you think of the system. If you haven’t received a call, please check with our office to confirm the phone number we have on file in our data base. We certainly want to have the most available number to reach you just in case of an emergency. The Central Office will also use that same number in case of an early dismissal or school closing.

Thank you for your continuing support of our students (your children), our teachers, and our school as a whole. Parents are a vital part of their children’s education.
